Corporate Social Responsibility

Lindsays takes its responsibilities as a corporate citizen seriously. Our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy takes account of a wide range of topics, from our operational activities through to charitable giving.

The Environment
We are committed to protecting the environment. We recycle materials wherever possible and have systems in place to ensure we make responsible use of resources and energy.

Employees and Clients
We are dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable environment for our staff and visiting clients, and comply with all employment and health and safety regulations. We provide a portable hearing loop in the meeting rooms at our Edinburgh head office. This website complies with the Website Accessibility Initiative.

Pro-Bono Work
Lindsays' Charities Group was recently instrumental in setting up a pro-bono charity law advice service for members of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations. The initiative is particularly helpful to smaller charities, enabling them to gain access to a certain amount of specialist legal advice free of charge.

Lindsays Charitable Trust
Lindsays Charitable Trust makes donations to a number of charities. This year the Trust has supported ProjectScotland, the revolutionary volunteering organisation for 16-25 year olds in Scotland. This unique organisation co-ordinates supported volunteer placements for young people within a wide variety of charitable, not-for-profit and cultural organisations throughout Scotland.

Staff Fundraising and Support
Each year our staff raise a considerable sum of money for charity, through participation in fundraising events and at our internal functions. Each year we nominate two charities to benefit from the funds raised. For the current financial year our chosen charities are: Maggie's Centres and The Sick Kids Friends Foundation.

Maggie's Centres provide a calm and peaceful space for patients suffering from any type of cancer and also for their families, friends and carers. A Maggie's Centre is also a one-stop shop for the information and support needed by patients going through some of the hardest times of their life. Lindsays' employees and clients are welcome to drop in to their local Maggie's Centre to find out more - or visit Maggie's online at www.maggiescentres.org.

The Sick Kids Friends Foundation was set up in 1992 to support the work of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. The Hospital receives over 100,000 children through its doors each year, from all over the East of Scotland and beyond. The Foundation has since completed many projects and bought many items which have a huge, positive impact on the lives of sick children and their families. Read more about the Foundation and the hospital at www.edinburghsickkids.org.

Volunteering
Many of our staff donate their time and expertise to charities and good causes free of charge, outside of their role with Lindsays. This not only helps the charities, but also provides our people with rewarding experience and valuable knowledge.
