We aim to be a good corporate citizen as well as a good law firm. For us, this primarily means making a positive impact on employees, clients and the wider community. We also try to minimise our impact on the environment.
We are fully committed to providing equal opportunities and encouraging diversity across all of our offices. We do this throughout our recruitment, training and employment practices.
We supply free legal advice to members of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO). We were one of the first law firms to offer the SCVO this service, which is especially useful for small charities with limited resources. More recently, we have also started offering free legal advice to members of the Association of Chief Officers of Scottish Voluntary Organisations (ACOSVO).
In addition, each year, we support two chosen charities with regular fund-raising events. Staff members are invited to put forward their own nominations for these charities. Currently, our two chosen charities are the Erskine, which provides nursing and medical care for former members of our Armed Forces; and SAMH, a mental health charity who work to support people with mental health problems.
We also encourage all our staff to use their skills and expertise to help and support the wider community. To our great satisfaction, they do this in many different ways. For example, we have staff who sit on Children’s Panels, others who sit on the boards of charities, and others who support the work of Citizen’s Advice Scotland. Many of our staff also take part in individual fund-raising activities for different charities.
