When I started at Lindsays over 25 years ago, it was a very small office with approximately 40 staff.
I started out as an office junior which included doing everything from delivering the mail and answering phones to washing the dishes. After about a year in that role, one of the junior partners took me under her wing. She encouraged me to apply for the position of a Junior Typist.
Typing title deeds can get a bit tedious after a while so, after a year or so, I was promoted to Typist to the trainees such as Alasdair Cummings and Kenny Gray [now partners]! I also helped out in other departments when they were short staffed. This was rewarded by my next promotion to secretary. I was also given more responsibility and on-the-job training to enable me to undertake a variety of tasks rather than just typing.
I then worked in several departments, including Debt Recovery, Private Client and Commercial. After a few years gaining experience, I applied for a position as a Secretary/PA to one of the partners. I also started helping out Sheena Aikman with Liquor Licensing. This was a new and interesting challenge. Eventually I was again promoted to Licensing Executive in Liquor Licensing where I carried out work relating to Liquor Licensing. After a couple of years doing that, I was joined by a team of Paralegals in Liquor Licensing since this area of the firm was expanding.
Once again I was rewarded, when the firm provided me with the necessary training to become a Specialist Paralegal in Liquor Licensing Law. Lindsays have been very supportive of me over the years and have always encouraged me to reach my maximum potential by providing all necessary training. I am now a confident Paralegal and provide clients with advice and assistance.
Although Lindsays are now a much larger firm, they are still, at the heart of it, the friendly, family-orientated firm they always were. In my view they truly do care about their staff. I have worked here for so many years now and simply couldn't imagine working anywhere else. It is a great place to work.
