After qualifying as a solicitor I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in employment law. I therefore joined the Lindsays team in Glasgow, where I work with two accredited specialists, as part of a wider team across our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.
During the past 5 years I have enjoyed a varied and interesting workload, advising both employers and employees on all aspects of employment law. I am primarily responsible for maintaining client relationships by providing an accessible and efficient service to them. My role demands that I appear in employment tribunals in both Scotland and England, providing me with an opportunity to hone my advocacy skills. Lindsays also provide training seminars to clients and the interactive format allows me to gain a better understanding of the environment in which our clients operate and their specific needs.
I enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the office, where I can combine some hard work (of course) with chats about the latest reality TV show! I have also had the opportunity to attend various residential training courses, making it easy and enjoyable to improve my knowledge in the ever-changing world of employment law.
In 2007 I was promoted to Associate, making me feel like a valued part of the team and encouraging me to develop and improve the skills that I have gained since joining the firm.
After taking nine months’ maternity leave I returned to work part-time and now work three days a week. The fact that Lindsays have been flexible regarding my hours allows me to spend more time at home with my daughter whilst still enjoying the challenges of my pre-baby professional life (and an uninterrupted cup of tea at my desk!).
