Professional experience

Alison has detailed knowledge and experience in Private Client work including residential property and agriculture. She deals with a wide variety of clients and has a natural ability to guide them through what can sometimes be complex areas of the law, to offer clear and concise solutions. Alison enjoys helping families and dealing with every generation, providing expert direction through all of life’s challenges.

Recently Alison has advised on Business Relief and Agricultural Relief on large estates, sales of Fishings, Trusts relating to small business succession, and legal rights claims with complicated calculations.

Alison is a Council Member of the Law Society of Scotland and is currently Convenor of the Professional Conduct Committee and the new supra Regulation Committee.

Credential highlights

• Working with a large family Trust where the beneficiary is disabled, to ensure investment of funds is efficient given today’s recessionary trends and to plan for some advancement of capital to the ultimate beneficiaries.
• Helping families deal with all issues related to illnesses in adults including: Power of Attorney, the management of family assets, financial guardianships, inheritance tax planning, the investment surplus capital.
• Advising on succession in family business.
• Advising senior executives and the management of large Scottish businesses on their personal legal requirements including the buying and selling of property, Wills, Powers of Attorney, wealth management and inheritance tax planning.
