Professional experience
Caroline is Head of Lindsays Licensing & Gambling team. Servicing an enviable client list, Caroline and her team have advised and guided clients through the transitional period between the outgoing Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976 and the new Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.
Clients, contacts and Licensing Boards recognise Caroline as being extremely able and supportive. She regularly contributes to trade and legal press, speaks at conferences, seminars and events and always tries to raise the profile of licensing in Scotland. Clients appreciate the added value that Caroline provides by way of bespoke seminars for staff, update bulletins and e-mails.
Caroline also provides advice and support to other law firms in Scotland who do not have specialist licensing teams.

In addition with a background in commercial and property litigation Caroline is a member of the Property Litigation team at Lindsays. Her advocacy experience and knowledge of the Scottish Courts is of great benefit to our clients, especially with regard to appeals under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and judicial review.

Credential highlights
- Working with the team to submit thousands of applications to Licensing Boards and appearing in support of applications across Scotland.
- ROC (UK) Ltd v City of Edinburgh Licensing Board - successful appeal against refusal of a premises licence for the Esso site at Cannonmills. The case is now going to the Court of Session.
- Working with very high profile client with regard to split premises licensing and the Gambling Act 2005 to create Adult Gaming Centers within previously licensed areas.
- Advising on Operating Licences for Remote Gambling Software producers.
- A member of the Law Society of Scotland Licensing Sub-Committee.
