Professional experience
David is a Partner in our Corporate & Technology group and has extensive experience of equity-based fundraisings for technology companies in the venture capital market. He acts for some of Scotland's most active business angels and venture capital funds, many of whom invest as part of matched funding rounds with Scottish Enterprise and other sources of public funding, with investments ranging from defence communications systems to mass consumer products.
David is often involved in the financing for large projects in the private and public sectors and has acted for both borrowers and lenders. In addition he advises in public sector tenders and related funding issues and deals with transactions involving partnerships between the public and private sectors.
David’s experience was gained in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow and he is a frequent speaker on corporate law to the profession and the wider business community.
Credential highlights
- Advised on various PFI/PPP projects and public sector tenders including Scottish Police Colleges, a new further education college for James Watt College and extended medical facilities for Law Hospital and the City of Hull Hospital.
- Advising The University of Edinburgh on procurement issues, including those surrounding the installation of (i) the EUCLID IT system (ii) the CRIC scanner at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary; and (iii) novel telephony solutions in all student residences.
- Acting for a number of start-up and spin-out companies, and in particular documenting their SMART and SPUR awards, and the related matched funding from angel and other institutional investors.
