Professional experience
Douglas is a Partner and Head of Lindsays' Litigation group. He has more than 25 years’ experience in a wide variety of commercial and civil litigation at all levels up to the House of Lords.
Douglas and his team are regularly involved in a variety of cases in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session, covering insolvency, intellectual property, and Trust related matters, as well as a number of commercial actions. Douglas has also worked on numerous Judicial Review cases in the Court of Session. He is experienced in all areas of civil litigation, and specialises in professional negligence, personal injury and commercial contracts. In addition, his caseload also includes defamation and partnership disputes.
Douglas’ has acted both for and against pubic sector bodies and he has recently acted on behalf of a Local Authority in the conduct of a procurement-related dispute. Other recent noteworthy cases have included review of Local Authority decisions to adopt roads and a successful action on behalf of The Scottish Beer and Pub Association in two applications for Judicial Review to the Court of Session and successfully challenging local authority decisions in relation to Liquor Licensing legislation.
