Professional experience
Kenny has considerable experience in commercial property work, advising clients on the acquisition and disposal of all types of property and businesses – from industrial/retail parks and offices to development sites, nursing homes and licensed premises.
Kenny has particular expertise in property finance, banking and secured lending matters. His clients include the major Scottish banks, a highly active property investment group, a national restaurant chain and a number of smaller/medium-sized companies and organisations with wide ranging property interests and needs. Kenny’s varied portfolio highlights his ability to provide clear tailored advice to all business sectors.
Kenny was extensively involved in advising the University of Edinburgh in relation to the development and rearrangement of land rights and obligations at “Edinburgh BioQuarter”. Specifically, this included advising on the complex sale, collaboration and funding agreements. Kenny and the team received specific praise after the successful completion of this transaction, with Nigel Paul the Director of Corporate Services at the University stating that “the team’s professionalism and sheer grit and determination has been hugely impressive”.

- Lead partner on various high value development transactions, particularly in the charity, healthcare and education sectors, including: The National Autistic Society's school and continuing education centre at Daldorch House, Catrine, Ayrshire - "New Struan". The Scottish Society for Autism's flagship day and residential school for young persons with Autistic Spectrum Disorders in Alloa. Scottish Youth Hostel Association’s acquisition and development of its Edinburgh Central Hostel.
- Particular expertise in property finance and banking/secured lending matters.
- Acting on behalf of the purchaser of a property portfolio in the negotiation of a £25 million loan facility from a major Scottish bank.
- Acting on behalf of an overseas lender in connection with the funding of four distilleries including the preparation of the loan facility documentation and securing assets to the value of £31 million.
