Paul Roper
Director, Jedburgh

Professional experience

Paul is a Director in our Jedburgh office. He has practised in the Borders for over 30 years and for most of that time as a Partner in a local firm. Paul always seeks to focus on the particular needs of each client.

Paul’s areas of expertise include the Administration of Trusts and Executry Estates and the preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Partnership Deeds (including Farming partnerships). He regularly advises on Rural, Estate and Agricultural Law and undertakes conveyancing of residential, commercial and rural properties.

He is a past Dean of the Society of Solicitors for the Shires of Selkirk and Peebles and is a member of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners).

Credential highlights

• Vast experience of administering executry estates including large estates with inheritance tax issues.
• Expertise in drafting Wills for all clients, including related inheritance tax planning.
• Involved in consultation in regard to the Law Commission’s report on the Law of Succession and met with representatives of the Justice Department of the Scottish Government as part of that process.
