Self Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs) - The Flexible Pension Choice

What is a SIPP?

Like an Individual Savings Account (ISA) a SIPP is simply a tax-free "wrapper" to put around investments you make for your retirement. Unlike an ISA, all contributions will receive immediate basic rate income-tax relief and higher-rate taxpayers will be able to reclaim an additional tax relief on their tax return.
SIPPs allow you greater flexibility and control over your retirement assets than other types of pensions. By separating the investment and administration elements of a pension contract, SIPPs allow the pension holder to choose from a range of investments.
SIPPs are of interest to anyone who wants to customise their pension plan rather than accept a standard offering that may not suit their needs and are particularly useful for people who want to consolidate a number of pension plans into one.

Who is involved with a SIPP?

You and / or your chosen investment manager;
A pensions administrator (authorised to run pension schemes); and
A pensions advisor (if you require pensions advice).

Why choose Lindsays for a SIPP?

Lindsays' investment team manage a number of discretionary SIPP portfolios. We apply our investment expertise and understanding of your needs, as we do with all investment portfolios, to construct a portfolio within the SIPP wrapper that meets your personal requirements. An investment manager will be appointed to you to manage the pension on a discretionary basis.

Our SIPP service without advice

If you have an existing SIPP or you have taken independent advice and made the decision to consolidate your pension plans into a SIPP, you can transfer your pension investments to a discretionary managed SIPP at Lindsays. Following a meeting with you to determine your requirements from the pension investments, we will deal with all aspects of the transfer process by liaising closely with our preferred pensions administrator. Thereafter we will manage the assets within the pension in keeping with your investment objective. Our annual fee for the investment management of pension assets is 0.75% +VAT.

Our SIPP service with advice

Pensions are complex areas of financial planning that constantly change. If you require pension advice before deciding whether or not a SIPP is appropriate for you or if you need guidance on what to do with your other pension assets we can arrange a meeting with our preferred pensions advisor.

Where can I find out more?

If you would like to discuss our SIPP service further, please contact one of our investment team.

Footnotes:

1. We select our preferred pensions specialists on a number of criteria including quality of service, ability to form an efficient and professional working relationship as well as reasonableness of charges. We can discuss the charges for these additional pension services on an enquiry basis.
