Accident on Cruise Ship Compensation Claim Solicitors Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee

If you have been involved in an accident on a cruise ship, you could be entitled to compensation. Our team can help.

According to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), cruise holidays are becoming more popular - almost two million holidaymakers from the UK and Ireland embarked on a cruise in 2016. Cruise lines have maintained an exceptional safety record, making cruising one of the safest ways to travel, even with the recent increase in cruise capacity. However, with growth in the global cruise shipping fleet, the number of major cruise ship accidents has also increased. If you have been injured as a result of an accident on a cruise ship, this may have had a significant impact on your day to day life, and where this was the fault of someone else, you should be compensated for your pain, suffering and loss. Calio Claims can help you make a claim for the compensation you are entitled to.

To discuss your case with an experienced solicitor, call us on 0800 988 8082 or complete our online enquiry form and a member of our team will get back to you right away.

If an accident occurs on a cruise ship, the law does differ compared to if it happened in a hotel or holiday resort on land. The Regulations that apply are the Athens Convention and they cover international carriage by sea. These Regulations determine who is liable for damage suffered by passengers.

The types of accidents that can regularly happen on a cruise ship at sea are:

  • slipping or tripping accidents
  • accidents in swimming pools
  • accidents caused by falling objects
  • accidents caused by defective equipment

This list is not exhaustive so regardless of how you were injured, it is best to speak to a qualified legal adviser to discuss whether you can make a claim.

How long do I have to make a claim?

Any claim which falls under the Athens Convention has to be made within two years of the date of alighting from the cruise ship. This means it is important that you act quickly. Getting specialist legal advice at the earliest possible stage gives your case the best chance of success.
