Lindsays is committed to meeting its obligations under the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017, as amended, together with the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, the Criminal Finances Act 2017, the Terrorism Act 2000, and other applicable financial crime legislation and regulatory requirements.
We carry out appropriate client identification and verification checks for new and existing clients and, where required, obtain information and evidence regarding the source of funds and source of wealth. We maintain policies, procedures and controls designed to identify, assess and manage money laundering and terrorist financing risks, supported by electronic and manual processes.
Our staff receive regular training to help them understand and comply with their legal and regulatory obligations. We take a risk-based approach to accepting and continuing instructions and may decline to act where a client, matter or transaction falls outside our risk appetite or where we are unable to satisfy our legal or regulatory requirements.
Further information about anti-money laundering and identity verification requirements for clients of Scottish legal firms is available in the Law Society of Scotland's client information sheet.
