Learning and development opportunities

Everyone at Lindsays has opportunities to develop – not just because we’re a growing firm, but because we actively encourage our people to grow too.

Through performance reviews, external and internal CPD, formal qualifications, soft skills training and other opportunities, we support all our team members to progress their careers.

It’s not just Lindsays lawyers who benefit, it’s the entire firm – in every team and at every career stage.

For lawyers, opportunities include:

  • Ongoing CPD
  • Training in business development and soft skills - from time management to assertiveness and effective delegation
  • Transparent promotion pathways - whether you’re a newly qualified solicitor or aiming for Director

In addition to CPD and our wide range of soft skills training, our legal support staff also benefit from a variety of qualifications relevant to their role and the firm’s needs, such as:

  • Accredited paralegal qualifications with the Law Society of Scotland
  • Specialist training, for example the anti-money laundering certification
  • Other qualifications via professional bodies such as the Society of Legal Accountants in Scotland (SOLAS)

We also encourage our business support teams to develop their skills and careers through soft skills training and with funded qualifications that fit with their roles, our clients’ needs and the firm’s goals. Current examples include:

  • CIM courses for Marketing colleagues
  • CIPD qualifications for HR teams
  • Role-specific training via other professional bodies

Everyone in the firm benefits from a culture where knowledge and experience are openly shared and passed on. At Lindsays, you’ll find an environment where learning is always supported – both formally and informally.

The opportunities the firm offers are both challenging and exciting – and it’s inspiring to know the whole team is behind you, supporting you every step of the way.

As a trainee or newly qualified solicitor, you’ll benefit from a range of support services and learning opportunities, in addition to your CPD requirements.

These include regular reviews with our HR team and partners, as well as soft skills training sessions covering areas such as time management, client contact, and optimising your LinkedIn profile. We also offer a variety of networking opportunities through Lindsays Links and other initiatives.

As a solicitor with three years’ post-qualification experience, you’ll also meet with our Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer for career development chats.

For our more experienced lawyers, we offer regular reviews and a wide range of training and informal support, including guidance on business development and the responsibilities involved in becoming a Lindsays Partner.

Our criteria for promotion are transparent and accessible to all, and there is flexibility for individuals to progress at a pace that suits their circumstances.

Everyone at Lindsays contributes to the success of our firm, and the career development of our support staff is just as important as that of our lawyers.

We offer varied in-house and external training opportunities tailored to your role. This could include soft skills training, support for progression from secretary to paralegal/senior paralegal, or the opportunity to gain external qualifications in areas such as HR or marketing.
