A biker suffers broken bones after crashing on a country road which was inadequately repaired by a local authority
Bruce was driving his motorcycle along a country road which had been adopted by the Local Authority. They had repaired the road surface and used bitumen paint where the repair joined with the remainder of the carriageway. Bruce’s motorcycle skidded on the paint and crashed resulting in several injuries, including a broken arm.
How we helped Bruce
The local authority’s insurers denied liability, so we raised legal proceedings against them. A report from an expert roads surveyor was critical of the authority for using bitumen on the road as it’s known to be dangerously slippery. Soon after they received the report the insurers settled the case and Bruce was awarded £7,500 in compensation.
Bruce said;
I was impressed by the way that Lindsays went about dealing with my claim and in particular for instructing an expert roads surveyor when liability was disputed. After they received the report from the roads surveyor they were able to settle my claim quickly after that. I was happy with the compensation I was awarded and I would recommend Lindsays to anyone who has suffered a motor accident because of the dangerous condition of the roadway
