A pedestrian who sustained injuries when hit by a reversing car sought compensation from third party insurers
Our client was struck by a reversing car which was being driven at a low speed, and was pinned against a wall. As a result, our client sustained a fracture to the vertebrae and suffered a cervical central cord injury that affected the power in her arms, hands and legs.
How we helped our client
We intimated the claim upon the third party insurers, who acknowledged the claim shortly after and admitted liability.
We proceeded to have our client examined by a Consultant Neurosurgeon and a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for the purposes of medical reports, and to comment upon our client’s injuries sustained as a result of the incident and her future recovery and prognosis.
Once the medical reports had been received, and approved by our client, we proceeded to forward them on to the third party insurers, along with details of services provided to our client and documentation in relation to out-of-pocket expenses.
The third party insurers responded with an offer of settlement, however, we felt the offer was on the low side, and recommended to our client that we return to them seeking an increased offer.
We managed to secure a higher offer from the third party insurers, in the region of £85,000, which our client was delighted to accept.
