Today we are marking the retirement of Alasdair Cummings, whose long association with Lindsays comes to an end after almost 35 years with the firm

Alasdair’s career at Lindsays began in 1986 when he joined as a trainee. Following his return from working in London for a few years, over the decades that followed, he became a partner, helped to develop key areas of the firm’s practice and went on to play a significant role in its strategic direction. Having stepped down as Managing Partner in October 2025, he now retires as a partner of the firm.

Much of Alasdair’s time at Lindsays was focused on supporting the firm’s long‑term development. He was closely involved in strengthening our corporate and commercial capability and in supporting our expansion across Scotland through mergers and strategic hires, helping to establish Lindsays as an independent, full‑service firm with a strong regional presence.

Reflecting on his career, Alasdair said:

“Lindsays has been such an important part of my life. Being able to spend my career here, and to work with so many talented and committed people, has meant a great deal to me.”

Alasdair served as Managing Partner for 14 years, leading the firm through periods of significant change and challenge, including difficult economic conditions and the pandemic. During his tenure, we continued to evolve, broadening our services, expanding our footprint and reinforcing the people‑centred culture that underpins the firm today.

People, he said, have always been central to what makes the firm successful.

“What I’m most proud of are the people. I’ve been very fortunate to work alongside so many colleagues I respect and admire, and I’m confident the firm is in excellent hands for the future.”

Since stepping back from the Managing Partner role, Alasdair has continued to support the business as a partner, working closely with the board and leadership team. His retirement brings that chapter to a close, with the firm well placed for the future and a strong leadership team in place.

Everyone at Lindsays thanks Alasdair for his leadership, commitment, and the role he has played in shaping the firm and wishes him a long and fulfilling retirement.
