Lindsays’ lawyers and their clients have raised more than £20,000 to help improve the lives of people experiencing mental health issues.

Lindsays has helped raise more than £20,000 for SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) through its Make A Will Month partnership. Rather than charging fees for Wills drafted as part of the initiative, clients were encouraged to make a donation to the charity, supporting its vital mental health services across Scotland.

The campaign has also encouraged more people to put a Will in place, helping ensure their wishes are clearly recorded and giving loved ones greater certainty in the future.

Alison McKay, Partner at Lindsays, is among the lawyers who supported the firm's Make A Will Month partnership with SAMH. She said:

"We are absolutely thrilled by - and thankful for - the generosity of our clients. Their donations will help make a difference to people’s lives, improving awareness and understanding of mental health issues and ensuring support is there for those who need it".

“None of us knows when we might need to turn to SAMH. The charity’s work is vital in raising awareness about and supporting positive mental health, something we as a firm feel strongly about".

“The partnership has also provided the opportunity to talk about the importance of Wills. It’s important that we all have one in place. By making your wishes clear, you can ease stress and pressure on your loved ones at what is an already upsetting time for them.”

Through its SAMH Make a Will partnership with SAMH, Lindsays lawyers waived their regular fees. They instead recommended a donation of £200 to SAMH for an individual Will or £300 for a pair of mirror Wills for couples.

SAMH Chief Executive Billy Watson said:

“Thank you to everyone who took part in Make A Will Month for lending your support to SAMH, and to Lindsays who are one of our longest-standing supporters".

"It's our ambition that anyone should be able to ask once and get help fast with their mental health. The money raised through the Make A Will initiative will support our work towards this and help us continue to change lives across Scotland."
