Daniel is a Partner in our Dispute Resolution and Litigation team and has over 20 years’ experience helping clients to resolve disputes. He specialises in commercial property and contract disputes, including claims arising from property contracts, landlord and tenant disputes, and title issues.

He advises and represents a wide variety of clients across the private and public sectors, including developers, housebuilders, commercial landlords and tenants, local authorities, and individuals. Daniel also has experience advising individuals on contentious private client matters, such as executry disputes.

Clients trust Daniel for his strategic advice on dispute resolution options and his expertise in conducting litigation before the Court of Session, Sheriff Courts, and the Lands Tribunal for Scotland. He also regularly represents clients in arbitrations, expert determinations, and mediations.

  • Acting for the owner of an office building in defending a Court of Session action by the developer of a neighbouring property involving a dispute regarding ownership of part of the building.
  • Acting for the former tenant of an office building in defending a dilapidations claim by its former landlord in the Court of Session.
  • Acting for the owner of a multi-let building in defending two Court of Session actions by one of its tenants relating to damage caused by a fire at the adjacent building – an action for damages for an alleged breach of insurance obligations under the lease, and an action for enforcement of reinstatement obligations under the lease.
  • Acting for mobile network operators in an appeal to the Court of Session against a decision of the Lands Tribunal for Scotland in a group of applications to the Tribunal under the Electronic Communications Code.
