Darren Lightfoot

Darren Lightfoot is a Partner in our Commercial Property team based in Edinburgh. He acts for commercial landlords and tenants, primarily in the retail, leisure, industrial and office sectors, and has a broad practice working with clients on acquisitions and disposals, development work and planning promotion agreements, commercial leasing for landlords and tenants, and corporate support.

He also advises on the acquisition of land for housing development and subsequent site set-up and redevelopment.

Darren works with individuals and businesses seeking to dispose of land or acquire it for investment and development purposes and has considerable experience in refinance and corporate support work. He has particular expertise in the property aspects of business acquisitions and disposals, advising clients across a range of sectors including veterinary practices, independent financial advisers, manufacturing and logistics companies, and vehicle repair sites.

He also regularly supports banking and finance transactions, acting on the acquisition and refinancing of high‑value commercial properties, mixed‑use developments, and land for housing developments and redevelopments.

Highly experienced in general portfolio management, Darren can provide advice and assessment on most aspects of general property law. He is a member Lindsay’s Land and Buildings Transaction Tax team, providing property tax insights to colleagues across the firm.

Known for his technical approach, Darren takes an active role in reviewing styles and supporting internal training, helping to ensure consistent, high‑quality outcomes for clients.
