We are pleased to be supporting the Menopause Festival once again which takes place this year on 30 April and 1 May 2021. This year due to the pandemic, the festival will be held online with organisers welcoming the opportunity to host the event following the cancellation in 2020 due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
Kate Wyatt, Partner in our Employment team will presenting on the first day of the Festival. Questions such as, ‘How should employers treat menopausal women in the workplace?’ will be addressed and discussed at the ‘Menopause at Work’ seminar which is aimed at Human Resources professionals, line managers and business owners.
This online festival, scheduled to take place on Friday 30 April, includes a series of sessions with a variety of speakers and presenters who will explore the rights of women and their employers’ obligations, menopause policies and how the menopause impacts on women’s economic participation at a national level.
Kate commented on the event, saying: “Huge strides have already been made to remove the taboo around the menopause through events and initiatives such as the Festival and Menopause Cafes. However, progress still needs to be made in many business environments where issues remain problematic.”
“There is still a lack of awareness of the impact of the menopause combined with a changing demographic in the working population so employers are going to come across this more often,” she said. “They need to get it right now otherwise they are going to struggle with claims.”
