We have recently welcomed Daniel Bain as a Partner in our Edinburgh office, further strengthening our Dispute Resolution and Litigation (DRL) team and support to clients nationwide.

Daniel brings over 20 years’ experience handling a broad range of disputes for both individuals and businesses. He is the seventh new Partner to be appointed across various departments so far this year (2026).

He joins the firm from Balfour + Manson, where he spent nearly three years as a Partner. Before that, he built his career over two decades at Shepherd and Wedderburn, progressing from trainee solicitor to Legal Director.

Speaking about joining Lindsays, Daniel said: “I feel that Lindsays is a great fit for my expertise, not just in property and commercial disputes more generally but also in contentious private client work such as executry disputes.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to contribute to the continued growth of the DRL team, at a time when everyone can see that Lindsays is expanding as a whole. I am looking forward to being part of that. It’s a fantastic time to be joining.”

Commenting on what attracted him to Lindsays, Daniel added: “The firm’s strong reputation across a wide range of areas is obviously a considerable draw, but I’ve also heard a lot about the positive culture of the firm from people I know who work for and with Lindsays. That was a significant part of my decision too.”

The new appointment comes amid a growing portfolio of work for our DRL team, headed by Partner John Bett, the current Dean of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow.

And his arrival has been announced just days after it was revealed that we are expanding our Glasgow operations through a merger with Dallas McMillan. Taking effect on September 1, it will see the size of our Glasgow team - based at 100 Queen Street in the city centre - rise from 80 to 123, with the firm-wide total increasing to 41.
