We are a mid-sized law firm with an excellent reputation for working with a wide range of businesses, charities, organisations in the education sector, financial institutions, and individuals and their families.

We are a full service firm, and are well known in areas as diverse as education, intellectual property, charity law and corporate law.

Each year we offer traineeships in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Jedburgh. As a mid-sized firm, we are big enough to offer you a diverse and interesting range of experience. But we are not so big that you’ll just be a cog in the corporate wheel.

Where can you train?

We offer a variety of traineeships in our Edinburgh office. You can spend a year working with our Private Client team and a year in either the Corporate or Property department. If you want to focus on the commercial side of the law, you can spend one year with our Property team and one year with our Corporate team. We also offer a two-year fixed seat in our Litigation or Property departments for trainees who have a clear idea of the area of law they would like to specialise in.

Traineeships in Glasgow usually consist of one year in our Property Department and one year in Litigation which will also incorporate Employment Law. We offer more general traineeships in our Borders office in Jedburgh.

As a Lindsays trainee, spending one or two years in each department, rather than moving around after six months is a distinct advantage. Over the period of your traineeship, you will follow projects through from start to finish, and gain a much deeper understanding of clients and their work. As well as making your traineeship more interesting and satisfying, it will equip you with the skills required to become a more successful lawyer upon qualification.

Throughout your traineeship, we will offer you friendly, professional advice and support. We will fund your attendance at various seminars, conferences and skills workshops which, along with the practical experience gained in your seat, will assist in the achievement of the new PEAT 2 outcomes and ensure you meet TCPD requirements.

What will your rewards and benefits be?

Trainees tell us that one of the aspects of life at Lindsays they especially appreciate is the office culture – where people make the effort to get to know each other. We organise social events throughout the year, and also have hockey, tennis, cricket and netball teams. So there’s plenty of opportunity to get to know colleagues, and to beat other law firms at your chosen sport!

We offer our trainees a competitive salary and excellent working conditions. We believe strongly in the value of work/life balance for employees at all stages of their career and their life. We want you to enjoy the social events we organise ourselves as well as enjoying your own life outside the office.
