The role
dynamic Personal Injury team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing their own caseload of personal injury actions and claims within an appropriate supervision process, and will also be working with and supervising, along with the team’s solicitors and partners, a number of paralegals to assist them with their more complex claims. Key responsibilities will include:
- Dealing with own caseload of reparation files most of which are court actions using the Visualfiles case management system;
- Investigating and assessing the merits of a case and making the decision whether to proceed to litigation;
- Quantifying claims with reference to medical and other evidence;
- Corresponding and negotiating with Third Party Insurers and their Solicitors
- Dealing with a mixed caseload of road traffic, occupier liability, employer and public liability cases as well as industrial disease and medical negligence work.
- Regular contact with clients by telephone, email and general correspondence
- Corresponding with insurers, GP’s, hospitals etc in relation to claims
- Pleading and Advocacy in the Sheriff Court
- Supporting the work of other members of the team, including paralegals and trainees
- Contributing to team initiatives and suggesting solutions to improve processes and procedures in the division
This role can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow however Edinburgh based candidates should be willing to commute to Glasgow for training purposes. After an initial period of training, the option to work from home/office/hybrid is available.
