About Derek
Derek is a Partner and Head of our Commercial Property group.
Derek advises on a wide range of property transactions including acquisitions, disposals, development, commercial leasing and investment deals. His client base includes commercial and residential developers, pension funds, corporate occupiers, retailers, investors and charities and is engaged in sectors as diverse as science and technology parks, retail investment, new homes, office developments and children's nurseries. He acts for Scottish Association for Mental Health, RNIB and Bathstore.com amongst others.
He is well respected within the Scottish property sector and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to every transaction.

Highlights
- Lead adviser to the RNIB having worked with them for over 10 years and during that period he has been involved in a number of high profile projects including the acquisition of their Scottish headquarters.
- Acted for a private trust in a significant investment deal. This private family trust was a new client win for Lindsays and it acquired, for around £14m, a retail warehouse investment (held on a long lease) in Edinburgh let to Tesco Stores Limited.
- Acted in the investment sale at a multi-let office investment in central Glasgow. The deal successfully completed in a two week period from start to finish.
- Derek is recognised by Chambers and Partners: A Client's Guide to UK Solicitors 2016 as a notable practitioner. He is also recommended in the Legal 500 2015.
