Today (Wednesday 1 October) we announce our new Managing Partner stepping into his role, two lawyers are promoted to Partner, with a further Senior Associate and Associate promoted within our Private Client team and two paralegal promotions.
Andrew Diamond has taken up his new position as Managing Partner, having been a Partner and Head of our Residential Property team since 2012. He succeeds Alasdair Cummings, who has stepped aside after 14 years in the role, during which time Lindsays has completed six mergers and seen annual turnover more than triple to almost £30m.
Andrew’s appointment is one of a number taking effect today, including two new Partners and two new Heads of Department.
He said: “One of our greatest strengths at Lindsays is being able to attract and nurture good, talented people and then giving them opportunities to flourish and further their careers. Our latest promotions and appointments are fantastic examples of that.
“Our people are at the heart of all that we do at Lindsays. I am delighted for everyone that we are taking these next steps together as part of a great team.”
The other appointments include a second promotion in six months which sees Eilidh Robertson become a Partner in the Rural - Land & Business department, based in Edinburgh.
Eilidh has risen through the ranks within our firm, having started with the firm as a trainee in 2016 she has had successive promotions from Associate to Senior Associate then Director in 2023, 2024 and April this year respectively.
Darren Lightfoot, meanwhile, has been promoted to Partner in the Commercial Property team, also based in Edinburgh.
He joined our firm as a Solicitor in 2017 before becoming a Senior Associate in 2021 and a Director 12 months ago.
Other promotions include:
- Harriet Waters steps up from Associate to Senior Associate in the Edinburgh-based Private Client team.
- Simon Smith becomes an Associate in the Private Client team, based in Perth. He was previously a Senior Solicitor.
- Pauline Easley becomes a Senior Paralegal in the Dundee-based Private Client team.
- Eve Skimins becomes a Senior Accredited Paralegal within the Dispute Resolution and Litigation department, based in Glasgow.
In other management changes, Dundee-based Partner Chris Todd succeeds Andrew Diamond as Head of Residential Property. Leanne Gordon, meanwhile, has been appointed as Head of Rural - Land and Business, based in Edinburgh. Former Head of Rural Michael Yellowlees is retiring as a Partner, but remains with Lindsays as a consultant.
Andrew takes the helm following a handover process which has taken place over several months. Alasdair - a Corporate lawyer whose journey from trainee to Managing Partner with Lindsays began in 1986, with only a five-year gap during which he worked in London - remains as a Partner.
Andrew praised his predecessor and the growth of the firm in recent years.
He said: “Alasdair has done a tremendous job. I know what it has meant to him over the past 14-and-a-half years. His leadership has shaped our people-first culture and success.
“I am looking forward to continuing the path that we are on. I am excited about what the future holds. Last year was our best ever. This year is going well.
“As a firm, we are in a good place, a healthy place. We have a lot of good lawyers and talented people throughout the firm. We have a strong blend to our offering across all of our offices. There will be opportunities for us to grow further in the years ahead.”
